Cut to Medicare payments set for March 1;
CMS will hold claims
The 21% cut to Medicare reimbursements set by the 2010 Medicare Physician Fee Schedule will be applied to your payments March 1, but Part B News has learned CMS will hold on to claims for 10 working days starting March 1 to avoid processing claims at that rate.
CMS is expected to hold the processing of claims for up to 10 business days - the maximum amount of time CMS is able to hold claims. This will ensure that if Congress acts next week, claims can be processed and paid at rate Congress specifies, sparing you from feeling the impact of the cut.
